First:Synopsis of subjects
The object of Power machinery and Engineering is internal combustion engine, gas turbine, steam turbine and other new power machinery and systems which are in the development.The  basic rule and process is how to convert the fuel chemical energy and the fluid kinetic energy to the power in a security, high efficiency and low pollution way.What's more, the research to system and equipment of conversion process, as well as the related control technology, is another important part. The discipline including energy, transportation, electric power, aviation, agriculture, environment and other fields which are closely related to national economy, social development and national defense industry.
The discipline mainly study power unit vibration and noise and exhaust emission control technology, power machinery fault diagnosis and repair technology.
The research which is closely related with ships and having a clear objectives, obvious shipping characteristics.The subject echelon stability, academic achievements and talents cultivation level are in the domestic leading level among maritime university.
Second: Educational objectives
This subject is mainly to cultivate practical high-level compound talents with moral, intellectual, physical development, and who engaged in the technical management and repair of the modern ship power machinery to meet the national defense construction demand the development of shipping, marine in twenty-first Century .The basic requirements are:
1 Mastering the basic methods of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping theory;Adhering to the four cardinal principles, loving the socialist motherland, striving to serve the people;Having the courage to open up and willing to contact with the folks; Abiding by the laws, having exalted moral character, occupation quality and cultural accomplishment;
